If you find the rendering is taking a very long time, render sections (mark an in and out and 'render in to out' til you find the problem clip (s). Im a beginner editor so yes i use more and more effects as i get better but i don't think there was enough to cause any problems in the new exports. Render your timeline and then when you do your export make sure 'use previews' is enabled. Have your sequence settings changed or are you using different effects or different export settings?
